Vice President of Operations
Graduating in May, 2009, from Penn State University’s Smeal College of Business, Sam entered the firm to serve as its Vice President of Operations. His initial responsibility is to manage F&S Produce’s recently acquired freezer warehouse, Mid-Eastern Cold Storage LLC., in Vineland, NJ – close by the company’s Rosenhayn headquarters and processing plants.
F&S purchased the freezer storage facility to increase its capacity and enhance its blast-freezing capabilities. Sam has charge of the 60,000-sq. ft-freezer plant, which serves F&S Produce as well as the customers of its former owner.
In addition, Sam’s duties include the evaluation of the company’s other operations as he seeks ways to improve their efficiency and productivity on the customers’ behalf. New equipment purchases are underway, with an automatic label applicator already online at Plant 2 in Rosenhayn. Sam is presently investigating the automation of other lines at both of the F&S facilities.
Sam supplemented his Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems with hands-on training at the Food Innovations Center of Rutger’s University. He completed the modular instruction program in Good Manufacturing Practices, Micro-biology and Sanitation, Allergins and Cross-Contamination, Bio-terrorism and Food Security, Applications of HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), Documentation, Traceability, and Audits.
Among his pastimes, Sam reports a passionate interest in golf, surfing, snowboarding, sports, and the Philadelphia Phillies.
