Sam Pipitone JrSam Pipitone, Jr.
President

Among his pastimes, which include golf, downhill skiing, and motorcycling, Sam Pipitone lists farming, which is both revealing and not at all surprising for the son of a southern New Jersey farmer who grew up to become president of a 75-million pound fruit and vegetable processing company.

Sam founded F&S Produce in 1981, in the town of his birth, Rosenhayn, to pursue a love of the land and its cultivation fostered in him by his father and uncle. They might not have guessed the scope of his ambition during those afternoons and evenings after school and long days of summer vacation. But Sam found a way to remain on the land while building a multi-million-dollar business, which would compete with some of the largest brands in the fresh-cut fruit-and-vegetable industry.

Having solidified his operation among local markets, the farmer-turned-entrepreneur has been steadily increasing F&S Produce Company’s territory, with the assistance of able, experienced buyers, sales administrators, and marketing managers it has been Sam’s talent to bring on board. In 1986, he established Pipco Transportation to control the shipment of F&S finished products to the company’s hundreds of retail, food service, and food industry customers, located in an ever-widening territory east of the Mississippi River. Located within the F&S Produce complex, Pipco Transportation counts among its wholly owned and operated equipment 30 modern power units and 50 refrigerated trailers. Pipco services its sister company, F&S, as well as other agricultural customers within a 500-mile radius of Rosenhayn.

In addition, Sam co-founded Organic Land Developers – a company handling the disposal of a million pounds of vegetative waste each week and farming more than 500 acres of southern New Jersey land.

Sam Pipitone is one of an increasingly rare breed of men and women who acquire mastery in their chosen profession by complete immersion in it from an early age. Although he did find time to be certified in Better Processing Control by the University of Maryland’s College of Agriculture, degrees would have been superfluous for a man who has dedicated his life to growing, processing, and shipping food. Sam is also President of the New Jersey Food Processors Association, a founding member of the board of directors of Capital Bank of New Jersey, a Trustee within CEO Group, an executive board member of the local Boy Scout Council, and a member of the Bridgeton Chamber of Commerce.
