Sam
Pipitone, like F&S Produce Company he founded and owns, has deep
roots in American regional agriculture. At the end of the 1970’s, Sam followed
his father and grandfather into the family’s southern New Jersey farming
business. In 1981, he established F&S Produce in Rosenhayn, the southern
New Jersey agricultural community where he grew up. Nearly a third of the
75 million pounds of fruit and vegetables F&S processes annually is purchased
from farms surrounding our two modern processing facilities, with a combined
square footage of 125,000.
While aggressively pursing the fresh-cut business, we constructed our first production facility (20,000 square feet) in 1988 at 913 Bridgeton Avenue in Rosenhayn. An additional 10,000 sq. ft.-production area was added in 1999. Renovations included the addition of a state-of-the-art Quality Laboratory and an executive office building, as well as the modernization of plant access areas.
An increase in sales necessitated yet another expansion in 2001, when a second 55,000-sq. ft. production facility was purchased, allowing us to expand into the retail market. Located at 730 Lebanon Road in Rosenhayn, the new facility houses a steam-peeling carrot line, bagging and brined pepper operation. In 2002, a portion of the building was converted to include a modern fresh-cut fruit program for retail and food service customers.
In 2005, we added an IQF freezer system to process and freeze a variety of fruits and vegetable items.
In 2006, our company acquired the “Certified Organic” designation. In addition, F&S Produce is certified for Kosher Orthodox Union products and participates in third-party audits by GMA-Safe and AIB (American Institute of Baking).
